“GOD, LET ME QUIT!” That was me, wanting to quit life and ministry. Have you been there? Feeling like a failure and wanting a way out? Sometimes God says no because He does not see failure but success. But if you force it, It is possible to quit on what God sees as success. So, do you define success the same way God does? Do you have the same metrics of success as God does?
The wrong definition followed by the wrong metrics is an incredibly dangerous place to be. You will see and feel failure where God does not see failure. You will feel successful where God does not see success. When you cross the finish line of your life, don’t we all hope God will have seen our lives as successful? To do this, you need to live the kind of life God deems successful.
This book first defines success as God defines it through Proverbs 3:3-4. Then we go on a journey picking apart each word or phrase in that verse to illustrate what God views as a successful life. With each turn out of the page, you will see a picture of success unseen by the modern world. They have different metrics of success leading down a path God sees as anything but successful. This book will not affirm earthly success. This book brings to light what God sees as success.
After having defined success, we break it down into the recipe and the results. Specific ingredients produce specific results. You don’t put all the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies in the mixer and hope to get banana bread. What are the ingredients we need to put in the mixer of life that yields success and favor from God? This book answers that question. In the end, you will have the right ingredients to produce results that actually matter.
I, Jason Coache, am the pastor of Wellspring Church. Before that I was a youth pastor for 10 years at Bayside Chapel. In the end, though, I am just like you. I have failed. I have succeeded. I have thought more highly of myself than I should have. And I have thought lower of myself when I should not have.
So join me, fellow student, as we learn together what true success looks like. When we cross that final finish line, will you hear “Well done good and faithful servant”?
This book will...
- Biblically define success.
- Give godly metrics to success.
- Paint a different picture than the modern world of success.
- Share results you can expect as you as God expects.

As a “successful” business owner for over 35 years and now the President of an International Non-Profit serving Malawi, Africa - I wish I had this book when I first started. Defining success is something we always struggled with as a Christian-Operated Business. Jason does a masterful job in providing the proper perspective - biblical! His transparency and authenticity illuminates and softens the hard truths shared within this book. A must read for those who want to redefine and challenge themselves on what success looks like in both their personal and professional lives.

In a culture that highly values success, we can mistakenly adopt worldly perspectives and measures for success. When this happens, we may lose our true sense of purpose, misplace our values, and even lose ourselves and our families. Jason reminds us of the importance of returning to a biblical definition and measure of success, namely, “Biblical success is when God’s heart and God’s ways become my heart and my way.” In this practical and helpful guide, Jason draws upon his own experience and demonstrates how the truth of the Word of God helps us to return to God's perspective on success and allows us to regain our true purpose. This inspiring and helpful book is much needed in our post-Covid ministry world.
One thing you can always expect from Jason Coache is transparency. In this book he openly shares his frustrating experience as a person driven to be “successful.” The other thing that I’ve come to expect from Jason is that he learns from his mistakes, and grows from what he learns. This book is some of the wonderful fruit of that growth.

A Recipe for Biblical Success is a much needed book. Far too many Church Leaders are defining ministry in the wrong way. Jason with careful insight and practical experience gives us a plan for how to make ministry about serving God. This is a book I'll be giving to Pastors and Leaders I coach and mentor.
It has been a joy to see Jason harness his God-given ambition through the joys and sorrows of life and ministry. He has lived the wisdom in this book. This is invaluable insight for weary travelers and wounded faith workers that will help reframe your vision and recapture your first love.
In this book Jason Coache shows the immense benefit of doing the hard work of self-reflection. His words are challenging. In this book Jason Coache shows the immense benefit of doing the hard work of self-reflection. His words are challenging. Through his own experiences, he shows that God sets a standard for our lives that is much different than what we naturally assume. God’s way is truly the better way, but it will require from us a changed mindset and dedicated effort in a heavenly direction. The chapters contain several powerful descriptions that will make you stop and think introspectively.
As someone who works with church planters on a daily basis, I know the dangers of losing sight of Jesus while craving success for Jesus. This book focuses those driven for Jesus on what really matters. So as I interact with driven ministry leads, this is a book I’ll be sure to give them.
Authentic and helpful are the two words that come to mind after reading, A Recipe for Biblical Success. Jason’s willingness to share his own journey is helpful and enlightening. Too often we have traded what is really important to follow the dream of success the way the world defines it. Jason helps us identify the folly that comes from chasing the world and to rewrite the definition of true ministry, family and leadership success.
A friend once told me “Scars are the signs of a battle won.” In this book Jason gives us a front row view of his own battle to establish identity in Christ and not in worldly success. His posture is vulnerable, his style is raw and his approach is as a fellow struggler. His definition of success should be adopted by all.

I have been reading books on leadership for 45+ years. Most of them address formulas for success from a worldly point of view. While I have benefited from those books, I longed for someone to write a book from a biblical perspective. Jason Coache has done a brilliant job in tackling success, which is a biblical topic few address. I love his transparency and vulnerability in sharing his journey. Biblical success is a journey, and I wish I had had this book 40 years ago. It’s a book worth reading, marking up, and sharing with your friends.
